Welcome to Touchdown UK

TOUCHDOWN UK is a schools/community based project aimed at the introduction of the game of American Football into the lives of young people across Scotland. It’s goal is to encourage young people to gain new life experience by encountering a new sport as both individuals and as groups.

Based In Edinburgh, TOUCHDOWN UK is the continuing work of Lead Coach/Director Tom Cramb, who has been involved in coaching American Football in the community for almost five years.

TOUCHDOWN UK aims to ‘TOUCH DOWN’ and ‘CHANGE LIVES’ by encouraging young people to try a new sport and challenging them to excel. By setting up long-term partnerships with schools and community groups we hope to engender life changing experience in a fun, safe and supportive environment, using the sport to positively affect both personal development and life outlook.

Already a number of participants coached in schools are now playing American Football as their own sporting choice. Many others have testified to their enjoyment of the sessions purely as a new experience.

TOUCHDOWN UK offers a range of sessions, varying in content, time and intensity, based on the needs of each individual group. Sessions can also be adapted to an internal or external setting. The Director will happily attend any group or venue to check its suitability and discuss the group’s needs.

  • One of the potentially largest sources for coaching is the agreement reached between TouchDown UK and the active co-ordinators in the County of Falkirk. Thanks to another ex-Edinburgh Wolves contact I have already completed 2 short lunch time clubs at small primary schools in outlying villages to Falkirk. Already another 5 schools are lining up for the New Year and the opportunity to take another kitted session in one of the local high schools.

  • A big loss for TouchDown has been the moving on of Paul Beautyman from Gilmerton New Church to the astonishingly beautiful pastures (and hills!) of Dunoon and Argyll (jealous, moi????).  Paul is one of the main reasons I do what I do, and as mentor, colleague and friend has been part of the ministry since its inception.  It still feels weird that I cant drop in on him at his office at Liberton High School and chew the fat, drink coffee and occasionally play golf with apples….it’s great fun!
